New Route for and after Eid Al Fitr

We recently reported the timings for the Dubai Ferry for the holiday of Eid al Fitr 017 (you can find the details here) where an additional ferry trip was announced by the RTA.

After further investigations it appears that this new route will be active after the end of Eid Al Fitr on an ongoing basis.

Circular Route

The new route is a circular trip (ie it departs from and returns to the same station) from the Sheikh Zayed Road Marine Station which is on the Dubai Water Canal.

Duration

The trip will last an hour and there will be one ferry taking the trips between 6pm and midnight from that station.

Cost

The price for the trip is the same as the other circular trips – 50 dirhams for Silver Class tickets and 75 dirhams for Gold class tickets.

Children under 5 travel free and children over the age of 5 are charged at full adult price. Tickets can be bought from the Sheikh Zayed Road Marine Transport Station ahead of your particular trip.

The round trip will not stop at any other stations and will be a trip that gives you a 1 hour view of Dubai Water Canal.

Dubai Ferry Timings for Eid al Fitr 2017

The RTA has announced the timings for the Dubai Ferry for the holiday of Eid al Fitr 2017.

Normal Timings

The ferry services will all return to their normal timings after some of them were suspended for Ramadan and you can see the specific details of the timings and trips here.

Additional Trip

In addition to the standard trips, a new trip has been added for Eid al Fitr which is a round trip service from Sheikh Zayed Road Station that will operate between 6pm and Midnight.

The trip lasts around an hour and the cost is the same as the standard trips that run from the Marina and Al Ghubaiba – i.e. 50 dirhams for Silver class and 75 dirhams for Gold class. It is free for under 5s and full price for over 5s.

It is a round trip that departs and returns to Sheikh Zayed Road Station and does not stop at any other marine stations.

Dubai Ferry Ramadan Timings 2017

During the holy month of Ramadan the timings for the Dubai Ferry can change.

The RTA has announced the timings of the Dubai Ferry services for the holy month of Ramadan, which is expected to start on Saturday 27th May 2017.

Dubai Ferry will operate from Al Ghubaiba Station at 11am and 6:30pm and from the Marina station at 11am, 5pm and 6:30pm.

This means that the afternoon services will not take place – i.e. the 1pm one way trips between Al Ghubaiba and Dubai Marina, and the 3pm circular trips, plus the 5pm trip from Al Ghubaiba.

Timings for the Ferry services in the Dubai Water Canal will also be restricted to the morning and evening sailings.

The sailings at 2.05pm from the Water Canal and midday from Al Jadaf stations will not run during Ramadan.

Watch Al Gaffal from Dubai Ferry

Once again in 2017 the RTA is offering spectators the chance to watch the traditional dhow race known as Al Gaffal from the Dubai Ferry.

The race takes place on Saturday 13th May 2017 in the waters around the Burj al Arab.

The traditional dhow boat race aims to remind people of the historic past of the UAE and to revive old customs.

Dubai Ferry Services for 23 April 2017

The RTA have announced service timings for the various means of public transport including the Dubai Ferry, for the holiday of Isra W’al Miraj on 23rd April 2017.

The timings announced by the RTA show that there are no changes to the services that run every day on the ferry.

You can find full details on all of the ferry services here.

They have also announced that public parking in the Emirate will be free on that day (apart from the Fish Market parking and multi storey parking).

Abra Launched at Dubai Water Canal

In addition to the ferry services that are now running at Dubai Water Canal, the RTA has announced that there will be a 3 month trial of a new abra service.

Dubai Water Canal Marine Station

With the commencement of services on the Dubai Ferry in the Dubai Water Canal, there have been a number of questions and comments on this site about those services and whether they are actually running.

The Dubai Water Canal is definitely a work in progress and there is still a lot of work to be done before the whole area along the canal is finished and it looks likely that this will take some time despite the work being ongoing right now.

However, the ferry services are running as advertised. Some of the stations may not be so easy to find as they seem to be in the middle of somewhat deserted areas, and the Dubai Water Canal Station is one of those, but it is there!

In terms of the Dubai Water Canal Station, you can approach it along the Beach Road from either side as it is pretty well signposted, but it is on the Deira side of the canal so that might be the approach of choice.

Once you take the slip road towards the sea, on the right side of the bridge that crosses the canal, you need to follow a bit of a winding path through somewhat deserted roads until you come to a small parking area just in front of the marine station.

The roads do look like they are still being built and the parking area is not too busy but you will see the Dubai Canal Marine Transport Station in front of you.

 

The current timings of the ferry from the Dubai Water Canal Station are as per below – please note that if they are changed in future, they will be updated on the Routes/Timings page so it is probably worth checking there for up to date information.

Dubai Ferry Tickets New Years Eve 2016/17

Tickets are available from today for New Years Eve special sailings to view the fireworks.

There are three sailings from the Marina, Al Ghubaiba  and Dubai water Canal stations.

Boarding  starts at 8:30 PM and the ferry leaves at 9 PM. It returns at 1:30 AM.

Prices are 300 dirhams for silver class and 450 dirhams for gold class.

Prices for children aged between two and 10 years old will be 50% of the adult price.  Children under two travel free.

There will be no seating on the ferry.

Tickets for New Year usually sell out very very quickly so you are advised to get yours as soon as possible if you wish to travel on these special trips.

New Ferry Services Along Dubai Canal

Some big changes are coming to the routes for the Dubai Ferry.

A day after the Dubai Canal is due to open at the end of the month, the RTA has announced that there will be additional ferry services using the canal, as well as some changes to existing services.

HE Mattar al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the RTA announced:

“The Dubai Ferry will offer service in five stations, two at the Dubai Water Canal, and three at the Business Bay. There will be three newly scheduled two-way daily services for the Dubai Ferry from Al Jaddaf Station calling at Dubai Design District, Al Wajeha Al Maeyah, and Marasi stations in the Business Bay; and the Sheikh Zayed Road and the Dubai Canal stations in the Dubai Water Canal. The services will start at 10 am, 12 midday and 05:30 pm. The current line of the Dubai Ferry shuttling between Al Ghubaiba Station and Marina Mall Station will be modified to call the Dubai Canal Station. Thus, the Dubai Canal Station will link between Al Ghubaiba, Marina Mall, Business Bay and Al Jaddaf. Due attention has been given to the integration of other transit modes (buses, trains and taxis) in order to provide a smooth and safe service for commuters,” explained Al Tayer.

“The fare of the tourist class of the Dubai Ferry will be AED15 to one station, AED25 to two stations, AED35 to three stations, AED45 to 4 stations, and AED50 over the entire line. The fare of the gold class will be AED25 to one station, AED35 to two stations, AED50 to three stations, AED60 to 4 stations, and AED75 over the entire line. ” added Al Tayer.

Eid al Adha 2016 Timings

During Eid al Adha the timings of Dubai Ferry do not normally change and 2016 is no exception with the same services running  at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 6.30pm.

See the routes/timings page for details of each trip and whether it is a round trip or a trip between the two ferry stations.

Also remember that round trips only run where there are more than 10 passengers although during Eid it is likely that the trips will be reasonably busy so it may be best to arrive a little bit early to ensure you get a place on your selected trip.
