Some Ferry Services Return to Normal

The RTA has announced that ferry services are returning to normal from Dubai Marina and Al Ghubaiba in a bid to return to some kind of normality in Dubai.

This means that the services that used to run at 11am , 1pm and 6.30pm from the marina and Al Ghubaiba stations will recommence.

Services had been suspended during the Covid-19 crisis for passenger safety reasons but now after the major effort of the national sterilisation program, services from these two stations have started up again.

There are still no services (as far as we are aware) running within the Dubai Water Canal but services are running at various locations using the abras.

Also the Dubai/Sharjah Ferry service is currently not operating until further notice.

New Operating Hours 27th May 2020

The RTA has announced a change in the working hours of the Ferry services.

Marine transport means will be operating on seven lines from 07:00 am to 10:00 pm. Tourist lines, Dubai Water Canal lines as well as Al Ghubaiba-Sharjah Aquarium Stations line will remain closed.

Ferry operating hours are under constant review during the covid-19 pandemic and are likely to change again so it may be advisable to subscribe to updates on this website and we will endeavour to keep you updated with any changes.

Marine Services Hours Change 20th May 2020

The RTA has announced that the hours of the Dubai Ferry will change again, due to the national sterilisation program that takes place between the hours of 8pm and 6am each day.

The new operational hours of the Ferry are from 8.30am until 7pm.  As with the previous announcement when ferry services resumed, only certain services will be running and it is likely that the only services running are between the marina and Al Ghubaiba.

Please call the RTA on 800 9090 for clarification on whether a particular service is running or not.

The government of Dubai and the police department announced the revised hours of the sterilisation program (which was previously running from 10pm until 6am) due to the increased number of cases of coronavirus in the Emirate and UAE residents will now need to stay at home between the hours of 8pm and 6am and may only leave in an emergency.

It is also essential that all users of Dubai Ferry should wear a mask when travelling and when in the stations.

Marine Services Reopen 13th May

Dubai Ferry.

The RTA announced on their Twitter account yesterday that marine transport services will resume with effect from today.

They did specify that services will resume “except for the marine services in #Dubai Water Canal, the Ferry service between Al Ghubaiba Station and Sharjah Aquarium Station, and recreational marine services.”

This leads us to believe that the services that will resume will be the trips between Al Ghubaiba and the Marina but we will seek further clarification on this.

It may mean that the circular trips that run from the Marina and Al Ghubaiba may not run as they are considered recreational.

If you plan to take a trip on the Ferry then please  contact the RTA in advance (on 800 9090) to check if the service you require is running.

If you use any form of public transport then please remember to wear a mask.

Tram and abra services also resume today and Metro services resumed last month.

Dubai Ferry Suspended Due to Covid-19

The RTA has announced, and posted on social media, that marine transport services will be suspended for a month with effect from 29th March 2020.

This is to keep in line with their values of trying to keep everyone safe and well and to minimise the spread of the coronavirus.

The announcement includes the suspension of abras, ferries and water taxis until 30th April, at which point this will be reviewed in light of the situation at that time.

This comes on the back of a major sterilisation program for the Dubai Metro and Tram which means that there is a curfew time for those transport services to enable a full clean before opening up the next day.

Members of the public are urged to stay at home as much as possible to keep safe and if they need to go out, to wear personal protective equipment.
