The government of Dubai this week made an announcement on the change in the rules for mask wearing in Dubai relaxing the criteria of where masks needed to be worn. However, the question is, do you still need to wear a mask on the Dubai Ferry?
Here is an excerpt from the briefing:
With regards to face masks, he [Dr. Saif Al Dhaheri, Official Spokesperson of the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA)] said that they are still mandatory in medical facilities, mosques and public transportation, as well as for food service providers, the injured and suspected cases to ensure the safety of the community, especially vulnerable groups.
Otherwise, wearing masks is optional for all other open and closed facilities and spaces, Dr. Al Dhaheri explained, advising senior citizens and residents and people with chronic diseases to continue wearing them to ensure their safety.
The announcement said that masks still need to be worn when on public transportation, and we know that includes Dubai Metro as well as taxis and buses and the tram.
Although it has not specifically been said that Dubai Ferry is included in this, we do believe that, as part of the Dubai public transportation network, you will still need to wear a mask on Dubai Ferry. Whether you need to wear the mask when you are outside on deck is also a question that we are asking but in the meantime, we advise to take a mask with you and wear it unless you are advised otherwise.
Please feel free to comment if you have been advised otherwise when travelling on Dubai Ferry.
